Years Experience

Best Karate Legacy

For over 30 years, Best Karate has upheld the traditions of Shotokan Karate in Pretoria.

Our dojo was founded on the principles of discipline, respect, and perseverance, with a commitment to teaching karate in its true form. Over the years, we have guided students of all ages, helping them develop both skill and character through dedicated training.

We practice NSKF (Nihon Shotokan Karate-Do Federation) Karate, one of the fastest-growing Shotokan styles in South Africa and around the world. Many of our students have gone on to achieve success in competition, adding to a proud legacy of karate champions.

As we continue to grow, our aim remains the same: to preserve the spirit of traditional karate.

5 Maxims of Karate

The five maxims of karate are the foundation of our training and everyday conduct.

Students are guided to seek perfection of character by developing confidence, discipline, and a sincere commitment to their training and dojo.

We encourage them to show perseverance by giving their full effort in each class, while also practising respect for others both within and beyond the dojo.

Most importantly, we teach that karate is never to be used for violence, but as a way to grow in strength, humility, and self-control.

Seek perfection of character

Strive to grow as a person, both inside and outside the dojo.

Endeavour

Always give your best effort, no matter the challenge.
